SUVA, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Fiji's Minister for Health and Medical Services Ifereimi Waqainabete congratulated more than 80 new medical interns while officiating their three-day induction on Wednesday.

Waqainabete reiterated the importance of receiving feedbacks. "We must receive feedback ... I love negative feedback because it is a way I can re-look at myself. It is an opportunity to grow," he said.

The minister also reminded the medical interns some important elements of their services.

"I have been stressing some important elements of the ministry and that is professional development, professionalism, punctuality, customer and staff experience, efficiency and infrastructure. The government has implemented reforms to make sure medical officers do their services better," he said.

"The government has made significant efforts in increasing medical officers' salary in Fiji," he added.

For those who are going to serve in rural health centers, Waqainabete advised them to keep in touch with the locals.

"You must visit the Vanua (villagers) and sit down with them. We are there to serve," he said.
