NEW DELHI, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- At least eight people have been killed in a collision between two cars in the southern Indian state of Telangana Wednesday, police said.
The accident occurred at Kothakota in the state's Wanaparthy district.
"One of the cars heading to Kurnool from Hyderabad hit a road divider and landed on the other side of the road. It was there that the car was hit by another vehicle coming from the opposite direction," a senior police official said.
While eight people, including three women, died on the spot, those injured have been admitted to a local hospital where the condition of two is said to be serious, he said.
"A total of 11 people were travelling in two cars and the victims included occupants of both the vehicles," the official said.
A probe has been ordered into the incident, he added.
